Important Dates and Deadlines for the 2017 Individual Income Tax Year

January 15, 2018 – Due date for fourth installment of 2017 estimated tax payments

January 23, 2018 – IRS begins accepting electronically filed returns

January 31, 2018 – Deadline for employers to provide employees with their W-2s and 1099-MISC

April 17, 2018 – Deadline for the following:

  • Individual income tax returns or extensions

  • Estate/Trust income tax returns or extension

  • Payment of any additional taxes owed

    *Extensions do not provide more time to make tax payments- only more time to file your tax return.  If taxes were underpaid, they must be paid by this date or a late payment penalty will be assessed.

  • IRA Contributions for the 2017 tax year

April 22, 2018 – Deadline to resubmit an electronically filed but rejected return

June 15, 2018 – Due date for second installment of estimated tax payments

September 17, 2018 – Due date for third installment of estimated tax payments

October 1, 2018 – Final deadline to file estate/trust income tax return if you filed an extension

October 15, 2018 – Final deadline to file 2017 individual tax return if you filed an extension

October 20, 2018 – Deadline to resubmit an electronically filed but rejected return
